Ophcrack is a password cracker based on rainbow tables, a method that makes it possible to speed up the cracking process by using the result of calculations done in advance. Ophcrack is developed by OS Objectif Sécurité SA, located in Gland, between Geneva and Lausanne. They provide some free rainbow tables, but professionals will want the more advanced set of a size of more than 2TB and delivered on a removable drive.
